Fenit beach is a relatively sheltered sandy beach facing due south into Tralee Bay. Fenit beach has no vegetation of note due to a concrete promenade at the rear of the beach which spans the length of the bathing water. There is no significant vegetation growing in the waters off the beach. The bathing water at Fenit is located outside but directly adjacent to Tralee Bay & Magharees Peninsula Special Area of Conservation (site code 002070). Activities include walking, swimming, sailing, surfing and angling. The bathing area is approximately 160 m wide.

Fenit is classified as achieving Excellent Water Quality in 2025 based on the assessment of bacteriological results for the period 2022 to 2025. Fenit has achieved an Excellent Water Quality rating for the four consecutive years 2022 to 2025. Annual water quality ratings are generally calculated using monitoring results over a four-year period and are assessed against stringent bacterial limits to protect bather health.
