The four-day programme ranges from historians discussing persecution at the Parade Tower to a live-scored screening of The Juniper Tree and music in St Canice’s Cathedral. Events have different age limits, so the festival’s evening programme should not be treated as uniformly suitable for children.

Free events and planning

On 31 October, Rothe House lists free family activities from 14:00 to 17:00 for ages 4 to 12. Macnas’ Cailleach procession is also free, starting at 18:30 along the announced route from John Street to Canal Square. Individual theatre, music and discussion events require separate bookings, with some already marked sold out.
