Dunmoran Beach is an exposed sandy beach backed by sand dunes. There are no formal designations associated with this beach, however there is a proposed National Heritage Area (pNHA) close by at Aughris. This area is also designated as a Special Protection Area (SPA) (Ref. SPA 004133). The beach is 0.85km in length, within which there is a 400m designated bathing area.

Dunmoran Beach is classified as achieving Excellent Water Quality in 2025 based on the assessment of bacteriological results for the period 2022 to 2025. Dunmoran Beach achieved an Excellent Water Quality rating for four conseutive years 2022 to 2025. Annual water quality ratings are generally calculated using monitoring results over a four-year period and are assessed against stringent bacterial limits to protect bather health.
