The story behind Johnstown Castle
The castellated appearance belongs to a later Gothic Revival house, not an intact medieval fortress. The estate developed through successive owners, while Daniel Robertson’s landscape work helped shape the grounds. Calling it a castle should not hide the kind of building you will actually visit.
