MyMap privacy policy

Exploring without an account

You do not need an account or subscription to explore places, plan journeys or collect county badges. Your saved places, journeys, home location, badges, companion and preferences are stored on your phone. Departure reminders are local notifications.

Location and transport

With your permission, the app uses your location for nearby places, directions and arrival checks while the app is open. Route and nearby-stop requests send the necessary coordinates to mymap.ie over HTTPS. We do not use your location for advertising tracking. You can change location permission in your device settings. Live vehicle requests send the route number to our service; vehicle positions come from the National Transport Authority.

Our hosting providers process network information, including IP addresses, to deliver and protect these services. Apple Maps, Google Maps and websites you open have their own privacy practices. A request to an external map or guide may include the destination you selected.

Android maps

On Android, Google Maps SDK processes device and SDK metadata, IP addresses, a Maps SDK-specific pseudonymous identifier, crash information and map interactions such as panning and zooming to deliver and improve Google services. This SDK processing is separate from the optional MyMap discovery analytics setting. See Google's privacy policy.

Optional discovery analytics

Sharing discovery activity is off by default. If you enable it in Settings, the app sends the public place identifier, interaction type and app section when you open a place, menu, guide or directions, or save a place. These events do not contain your name, precise location or device identifier. Aggregate counts are retained for up to 366 days and do not identify unique visitors or prove a visit. Turn sharing off to stop future events.

Business accounts and promotion

Business owners can create an account using an email address and password. Authentication and submitted business records are handled by our Supabase services. We process your account identifier, email, business name, address, entrance position, description, website and menu links, chosen plan, review status and changes you submit. Unsubmitted drafts stay on your phone. Approved public listing details are visible to app users; account credentials and review correspondence are not public.

Apple or Google Play processes in-app payments, depending on your device. RevenueCat verifies purchases and manages subscription access and purchase analytics using an identifier linked to your business account, transaction information and subscription status. MyMap does not receive your full payment card details. Buying a subscription does not itself approve a listing. We retain account and business records while needed to provide the service, resolve disputes and meet legal obligations. In versions with the Delete business account button, open your business account and use that button to delete your account, submitted listings and review records. If your version does not show it, contact us to request account and associated data deletion. Cancelling a subscription and deleting an account are separate requests.

Feedback and support

If you send feedback, we receive your message, topic, optional reply email, the selected context such as a stop, and your app version, phone model and operating system version. We do not attach your location or a device identifier. The MyMap team uses this information to respond and improve the service. Feedback is stored in our cloud database for no more than two years. Unsent feedback stays on your phone until you send or clear it.

Which county? leaderboard

If you join the leaderboard, we store your chosen display name, avatar choice and daily puzzle results with a player identifier. A random access secret stays on your phone. Your display name, avatar and scores appear to other players. No email or location is required. Where a weekly prize is available, the app shows its rules before participation. A selected prize place and the winner's leaderboard name may appear publicly. Contact us to request removal of your player profile and results.

Why we process data

We use account, purchase and listing information to deliver the services you request and administer our agreement with business owners. Location permission and optional analytics are choices you can withdraw. Service security, responding to support and improving reliability are our legitimate interests. We may also retain information to comply with legal obligations. We do not sell personal data or use cross-app advertising tracking.

Service providers and international processing

Our providers include Supabase for authentication and database services, RevenueCat for subscription management, Apple and Google for distribution and payments, Google Maps for Android maps, and OVHcloud for mymap.ie hosting. Data may be processed outside your country. Where international transfer rules apply, we rely on applicable safeguards, including providers' contractual data protection arrangements. Only people and providers who need the data for these purposes should have access.

Your choices and rights

You can change location permission in device settings and disable discovery analytics in MyMap Settings. Contact hello@onoirstudio.com to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability or to object to processing. Include the relevant business email or leaderboard name so we can identify the record. We may need to verify your request. Some records may need to be retained to meet legal obligations. You can complain to the Irish Data Protection Commission.

Manage or cancel subscriptions in your Apple account subscription settings or Google Play subscriptions, depending on where you purchased them. Removing the app or requesting data deletion does not cancel a store subscription.

Children and updates

MyMap is a general-audience travel app. Business subscriptions are intended for business owners and authorised representatives. Please avoid placing personal information in a public leaderboard name. If you believe a child has provided personal data that should be removed, contact us. We update this page when our practices change.
